    I would not run carbon, sponges, floss or any other filter media in there. You are asking for high nitrate levels if you do.
    Does water always taste like salt and poo????

    its may old equement from when i had the fire belly toads be for i got the pump my nitrates where though the roof all my fish were dieing in the tank left and right i did not know why ,had water tested this pump is a bio filter (live bio's chem zorb) is what it is it whas a wounder pump 4 me water was perfect after that NEVER lost any more fish unless the toades killed them evdence was bit markes on them the tank 55 gal was half full with 3 stacks of large rock 10 fish 10 to 20 crickets also in there at all times ( food 4 toades)and 3 MESSY toades i NEVER had to clean tank i sweer between the 2 power heads and that filterit was alwas SPARKLING and clean just swushed the gravel around some times and in 5 min it was perfect again but i had too repace the bio bag every 3 weeks it was a little costly but worthit onthe box it cam in it said great 4 sald too it is called (fillstar xp 1)please check up on it and let me know you think? thanks hummer
