Default My tank has massive water movement!!

I just added a RIO-Seio820 Powerhead to my tank. I have great water movement in my tank now, it is a little dusty in there right now from the sudden water movement, but not too bad.

My question is, I just added some Perc to my tank and they stay at the far end of my tank away from the powerhead, is it because they are not use to the noise/tank/setup or is it because the flow is so great they can't swim in it. They are pretty small still about the size of a nickle give or take.

    Thanks

No worries, They just need time to settle in and find where they are happy. Don't expect much the first couple of days after adding new inhabitants.

Trust me, 1 SEIO 820 is not too much flow. I ran 2 in mine till just last week when I got tired of my frags blowing off and my mushrooms/ricordia detaching themselves so I am running one now as well, IT's fine.

Going to use both in the 75G when I get it.

And Off topic for a second, That %^&* %&^* $%^& Cleaner Wrasse has killed his last clownfish! I am flushing his fins as soon as I can catch him. He killed another of my naked clowns tonight. Now I only have one and he is in my fuge so he doesn't get killed! %^&* stupid %&^*$(# fish!

For a 55gal tank,25x turnover is the minimum i would run for a reef tank. That puts you at 1375gph.The thing about current/flow in a reef tank is it needs to come from multiple outputs.4 outputs would be the minimum IMO.Your Seios820 is putting out alot of flow but its only 1 output.Try moving your pump/s so that the flow is directed into the glass/LR so it breaks it up.

Right now my return pump is angled down at a 45 degree angle towards the bottom/front of the tank, and my Seio is angle towards the top just slightly and the back.

This has created a circular flow inside my tank as I can see the current moving around through the rocks and the directions of some of the small plants attached to the LR being blown 1 way, then back the other way.

I think your fine. I only have a 10 gal. and I have a diy HOB refuge made out of an Aquaclear 30 running full blast, a sea clone 100 skimmer running around 60 or 70 gph and a elite mini that pushes 38 gph.

I added 2 seio 2600's to my 125G. Plus I upgraded my return fron a mag 9.5 to mag 12. I finally have some motion in the ocean. The tangs are loving it, especially the achilles. (there is also a yellow tang in there) The clowns rarely leave their hammer coral so I doubt they even notice the difference. The only other fish in the tank is a yellow tail blue damsel and it doesn't seem to mine either. I know, not many fish in the tank. I'm holding back till I get the big tank up and running. ; )

I think it was just them adjusting to my tank setup as opposed to the the small tank they were in. At night they hide out behind a LR in a dip in the sand and durring the day they try to swim head on into the powerhead then spin around and swim as fast as they can the other way in the current.
