I don't need the rock to be "live" at all. Just don't want to introduce new algae into the tank!

So... to boil it, what do I need to do? Is this some unsavory task that I need to do in the kitchen when my wife is out?
Detroit's oldest large LED tank! Est'd Jan 2005, went LED June 2009. 6' wide 130g reef, Sunbrite T10 LED tubes (3xGen 3 and 1xGen 1), mostly SPS, but chalices, other LPS, and a few softies too.

camp stove or the side burner on the grill is always a good idea inplace of the kitchen stovetop
