    Default pump >> overflow

So I think I ordered to0 much return pump for my overflow.

I got a Mag 9.5, and on the return side, I plumbed 2 T's, one goes into the fuge, the other goes back into the return pump section.

I have to have the ball valve returning into the return pump section almost all the way open. If not, the tank starts filling up, or i get a horrendous gurgling sound from the overflow box (HOB).

And with the return valve almost all the way open, im not getting near the pressure I wanted from my spray bar. 80(

    So what are my options?
I have 1" pvc to the skimmer section. Theres enough ro0m in the overflow to put another bulkhead and another drain pipe. Will this help at all?

Or do I have to build me a bigger overflow box?

Gurgling sounds normal, I have a 9.5 with a max rated 600gph overflow, and yea its annoying but you sorta get used to it. BTW Isn't have a T to the refugium a bit to much flow for a refugium.
55 Gallon. One year old, and looking SUPER.

its not really the gurgling sound im worried about.

im not getting enough flow through my spray bar. to0 much is being diverted back into the return section.

Is your tank filling up so much that it will overflow?

New plumbing will take up to 14 days to slime over and quiet down.

yes, the pump will pump more water back into the tank than the overflow can handle.

actually, the piping from the overflow down into the sump is the exact same piping thats been on the tank for almost a year.

    Default Pump/plumbing problem

Why are you saying too much flow is being diverted to the return and not to your spray bar?
What size plumbing from your overflow to sump area?
Is the return section of your sump running out of water and pump going dry?
If your return is diverting too much flow from your spray bar either the plumbing or the spray bar is too restrictive. Can you restrict your diverted water(ball valve partially closed to force more water to the spray bar?
Water always follows the path of least resistance. You need to make your spray barr the least restrictive of the system. Really need a diagram to understand your system to properly recommend fixes. My hob overflow (CPR) gurgled I just played with the two solid air lines sticking out of the water until I got the sound as low as possible about a month later you don't even hear them at all unless something is wrong.

put a tee in the return line and devert it back into the sump with a valve you can regulate the flow

Overflow is not returning water fast enough, I would add another overflow myself.
