So far my 55 gallon tank has an all-glass wet dry filter, my coralife super skimmer is sitting int he mddle part of it, how ever i wanto move the skimmer so i could use the middle room as a refusium and place a light on it. the super skimmer can be a hang on the back but i was wondering if anyone had experiance when it hungont he back because if anyhting was to go wrong it can overflow out the colection cup.

The tube going over the back of your tank will be the cause of the siphon. If you drill a hole in that tube BELOW THE WATER LINE IN YOUR TANK, it will break any siphon in case of a power outage. Depending on how strong your pump is, you probably want the hole about 1/4 inch big.

I've never done an over-the-back system, but I made my friend do this in his. We cut the power to test and it worked great.

that is very helpful however on the return tube back to the tank if that is to ever get cloged or anyhting then the watever woulda push up into the colection cup and from there push out the top onto my carpet.

Is there a reason you can't use a below-tank sump? It would avoid your overflow/carpet problem. You'd still have your tubes over the back, but then the syphon-breaker hole would work. If your return hose closgged, it would not affect your water level past your max-fill line in your sump. I may not be following exactly how you have your overflow set up. If I'm confused, a pic would help...

i want the skimmer to hang ont he back of the tank because im going to turn my wet dry filter into a refugium. so the skimmer is currently in the wet dry but i want it to hang on so i can have room for a cheato farm. If i leave the skimmer in there and buy a refugium its gonan cost $$$ geting return pumps and what not.
