    Default New tank questions

OK I don't use any additive in my tank becuase it is a 10 gallon nano and I do weekly water changes to replenish everything. I'm starting a 30 long now and was wondering if I can stitll get away with this or do I need to start using kalkwasser and stuff and other additives.

As long as you're doing your water changes and stuff, you should be good without additives. Now if you start adding things that consume elements in your water faster than water changes are replenishing them, then you'll have to add them.

SPS sucking up your calcium supply. You would really need to research your corals to find out what their needs are and then test for those eliments to see if you need to suppliment.

If you do weekly water changes it should be ok. If not, try using a salt mix that has higher calcium. I had low calcium levels in my 125g reef when I was using IO salt. I switched to oceanic and the calcium was great, but the alk was low. So I mixed 1/2 IO and 1/2 oceanic and everything tested great.

    Good luck.
