I don't think you are out of the woods yet. I would definitely do a decent sized water change, change out your carbon, check your tank good for cracks an leaks. Clean out your skimmer if you have one,and run chem poly pad too. You do not want the stuff from that heater in your tank.

now im worried again. Do you know whats in the heater? I went to empty my skimmer cup, noticed a pepermint in the overflow, started fiddling and bam the heater breaks. Can do a water change, have water ready. Look for tank cracks? Could the current break the tank?

With the element exposed touching the glass , it could cause the glass to crack , plus all the chemicals in the heater element could be fatal to some corals . If you do not see water leaking you should be o.k. But I would be doing water changes ASAP

Well as a update and more oh no,... The replacement heater I used was stuck in a on postion, came home from work sat night to find my tank at 88+ degrees. Yeah Im starting to think im trying to kill my bio cube. Got the tank cooled off, most everything is coming back and perking up except 2 frags of zoos and my flame angel. The flame has been behind the rock work for 24 hours now. Breathing very fast and hovering with the tail down, head up and moves to a sideways postion from time to time. Not eating. Think I boiled the poor fish. Any one think there is a chance of the angel pulling through or is the fish suffering for nothing?

Sorry to hear about your loss and the problems. The good news is bad things come in three (broken heater, stuck heater, dead fish)...so you should be done now.

Sorry to hear the bad news, but that is the reality in this hobby . I wish it wasn't though. All you can do is learn from bad and good experiences. Good luck,
    Pete
