Default really dumb question (Tank background)

I don't want to paint the back of my tank right now, so I'm going with a background. What is the best way to attach that to the tank? I used tape on my FW, but it tends to eventually let loose and peel back. I did spill some water between the background and the tank once and the background seemed to stick to the tank for a day or two. Does that work in the long run if you do the entire background or was it a fluke? Thanks for any assistance you can give with this basic question.

I use scotch tape to hold my background on.

spray the background with some lightly soapy water and press against the tank as you like, then squeegie out the excess water/bubbles and trim to fit.... be sure that none of the residual soapy water makes it into the water.

    Thanks repto.
I guess it's sort of like putting on window tint. I never thought of it like that before. I'll try it.

    Default 2 sided tape

I simply took a sponge to the back of mine with nothing but water and it has been stuck for over a year. If that worries you try to use 2 sided scotch tape it works great.....

I have already taken heavy duty clear packaging tape and used that to attach a background. Its nice and wide so it gets a good "bite" on both the tank and the background. The tank I had done that on had the background on it for over 10 years and never pealed on bit. The only thing that I did not like was that even though I taped all 4 sides down to what I thought was pretty much sealed I still managed to get a small amount of salt creep between the glass and background after a few years.
By the way, you question is not dumb at all.

We used those clear poster sticky things.... they are made by 3m I think and they won't take the paint off a wall. Stuck up there for 5 years now and you can take the backround off and stick it back and it will stay! They are reuseable to a point unlike tape. You could try a little dab of rubbler cement too but that stuff stinks till it is dry.
