    Default Reef Lighting...

Ok, I've now got enough money saved up for lighting so I can officially own a reef tank. Will this light work for a 55 gal long tank?

Its the 48" 216 watt light fixture.

Probably unless you plan on getting clams or some other inverts with high light needs. Depth penetration would be my only concern with those fixtures. Here's a link to a DIY Metal Halide set-up. It would cost you about the same for two of these and you could keep just about anything, plus have the satisfaction that you made it.
