Default What to do with excess live rock

I have about 30 pounds of live rock that I need to store until I find a place for it. Is it ok to let it dry out and die off? or would it be best to store it in a Rubbermaid tub with a heater and power head? I probably won't have a place for it for a few months.

I would try to store it, after all 30 lbs is lot of money to go to waste. You may be able to sell to someone in your area or maybe even give it to your lfs for store credit for 30 lbs of live rock when you have room. just some ideas

No need for a heater unless ambient temperature falls below 70degrees.A powerhead should be all you need to keep the rock alive while its being stored.Keep a lid on it and dont forget to top-off the container to replace evaporated water and you'll be fine.

Thank you both. The only reason I have excess is that when I made my initial order from Live Aquaria, Fed Ex's handling isn't as gentle as it ought to be I had 3 cases that were badly damaged and a lot of rubble. Good news is that Live Aquaria stood behind their good business practices and sent me another 70 pounds free of charge. I just don't want to throw any of it away or let it die off. I'm sure I'll find a home for it in time.

Most of the pieces are smaller, down to rubble in size. If I had another tank I would have it set up, unfortunatley I just about broke the bank with this new set-up. I know I'll find somebody to donate it to or find a use for it my self. Like you said I just might be able to find someone willing to trade some corals for some.
