    Default Substrate suggestions needed.

I have a question about substrate selection. I wanted to go with live sand at first, till i realized it was like 100 for 20lbs.... Now i am wondering what would be a good, and affordable sand to use for my upcoming reef aquarium?? I saw a post earlier about play sand?? Would this be a good sand to use? Or should i go with something else? I've got everything else picked out, but my substrate... So, any suggestions would be appreciated, thanks.

Oolitic or aragonite is best!!! Southdown(playsand) is supposed to be great if you have availability. Here, in Utah, we are in the basin of Lake Bonneville and have the ability to get our own, but it must be washed and strained.
There's nowhere else I'ld rather be... unless, of course, you're buying

I would go with a fine grain sand wether it be south down or sand made specifically for aquariums. crushed coral is infamous for trapping debris and turning into a nitrate factory.

OK. Thanks. I had planned on going with a fine sand, was just wondering if there were any better substrates then others. But ok, thanks.
