Is it possible that I may have to many corals in my tank? Especially with it being so small and having no skimmer? I can't think of any other reason why I should be getting green/brown algae.

I don't think it is from too many corals. Are you feeding too much? What are you nitrate levels? You might have a dead snail or something behind the rock. I'm not a big fan of chemical treatments. I would keep doing water changes and using carbon.
Good luck.
Jaime I think once u upgrade to a larger system with greater water volume it will become easier to keep your params and algae in check. In smaller systems params can swing out of line too quickly. Were as a larger system can be more forgiving.
Also you will be able to employ more methods of nutrient export ( for example protein skimming, as well as more mechanical and biological filtration)

Thanks guys! Yup I do have some dead snails in there somewheres. I'm gonna pull some rock out next WC and get em outta there. Thought for sure the Bworms would clean em up-AHDAH!
As for the upgrade I'm working on it. Tom is bring me up a sump/fugue this week. I'm also saving up for a HOB overflow.
I'm on my waaaaay, Woot Woot!!
i think the coral would out compete the algae and consume most of the nutrients wouldn't they? perhaps over feeding is the problem.
It takes a long long time to build a coral reef. Step by step the reefs survive on partnerships. And the most important partners are you and I.
Think I may have found the prob. At least part of it. I found my Rose goby dead in the pump housing(
Now my pistol is alone( I'm so bumbed, she was one of my favorites. RIP Rosy.

sorry for your loss, that is probably a key contributor with the problems you are having
