    Default What is this and how do i get rid of it?

    This is starting to grow all over my sand bed. How do i get rid of this?? And what is it?

    that is whats call cyno bacteria (aga slime algae)try adding some water flow towards the bottom of the tank you can also remove it manually with a turkey baster.i suggest doing both. sand sifting cleanup crews are also very useful in keeping this in check.this bacteria feeds on phospates and nitrates alike.harmless to FO or FOWLR tanks it just looks bad but where corals are present it will cover and smother them .very important to keep removed from reef tanks for this reason.very few creatures eat this you may want to try scarlet hermits and naserynth snails .

    I encountered a similar problem with diatoms.. turns out i need more water movement and more clean up crew... like unleashed said "try adding some water flow towards the bottom of the tank" i bet that will help my diatoms have disappered after i count good water movement in the tank
