    Default What is happening?!?!

    Ok this is what my ref sand bed looked like 2 hours ago
    100 0293 - What is happening?!?!


    This is what it looks like now
    100 0297 - What is happening?!?!

    100 0299 - What is happening?!?!

    There is what appears to be a brown "substance" starting to cover my sand. Is this normal? What is happening?

    As stated per our IM conversation, Perfectly normal diatoms for a new tank. It'll go away with a little time.

    I agree with Reefneck. Its a diatom bloom and its part of the process.

    It took 2-3 weeks for mine to go away
