Default Whats up guys! (newbie alert!)

Hey guys, just started setting up my 55g about 4 days ago. Has about 3 to 4" of sand, about 25lbs of live rock (15 which came from a friends 150g tank) and REAL ocean water. I had my water tested today and it came out perfect, the only problems were High PH, Low Calcium/Alk but the lady told me since no coral atm that its not important. I have alot of help from my friend who has 2 210g and 1 90g and another friend who has a small 20g.

Currently its set up with a sump wet/dry with a 950gph magdrive pump through a 3/4 line ( I had to split the return the pressure was to high) and it was kicking up sand alot also a powerhead adding some extra current.. As cash comes in and the tank matures I plan to add a protien skimmer and a refugium. My only problem currently is the temperature, my house hovers around 75 to 80 and that with no lights! So I was wondering if theres any cost effective ways (short of a chiller) of lowering it since it will probably get hot with lights.

    Thanks for reading!
    Wish me luck!
55 Gallon. One year old, and looking SUPER.

My Reef typically runs 80F during the day with the lights on. 78F-82F is an ideal range to be at with a reef tank. At night I have seen my go to 81.9F with the lights off. Weird but still acceptable. You could rig a fan to blow across the surface of the water if it gets too high but 78F-82F is the range you want to stay in.

Welcome to CR ! We're glad you dropped by. Ask anything you like. We are always glad to help.
