well ive had my cleaner wrasse for some months now and he just started picking at my clams the other day after a water change...never did it before, just suddenly started. he doesnt take off flesh, just seems to be picking off something....well it makes the clams close so thats no good. so i took one out and looked it over. perfectly healthy....but then i saw something moving. they are covered in isopods...and that must be what the wrasse is picking at....what do u all think i should do? i have the uv on in case if free swimming form to maybe reduce them, but i doubt it will do much.
1. get rid of wrasse and try another?
2. keep wrasse contained until isopods go away and try again(wrasse is very easy to catch just put algae in net)?
well any other ideas are welcome as well. here are pics of the isopods...anyone recognize what species they may be?
Gah! almost bought a gold tear drop maxima clam today too...
pics are of microscope 40x power.
