THAT IS A 120G TANK AND THERE IS 20 LEDS ON IT , I dont recomend more than 12 LEDs on a 120 becouse it looks more natural. I also have a 90G with 10 LEDs on it and it looks very natural.

Fishez, do you know what the mcd output is on the LED's you are using? They look good in that pic. I'm looking at some of the newer ones out now that have a rediculous max output of 10Kmcd at 465nm. I think they may be a bit too bright for our tank, might just use the 3000mcd ones I have on hand now instead, since I still have a couple hundred of them.
Every electronic device is manufactured with smoke stored deep inside... only a true genius can find a way to set it free.
I will also take two at 25
It is our responsibilities, not ourselves, that we should take seriously.
daker, The ones in the pic are 4000mcd, The 3000mcd ones you have should work fine there isnt that much difference. The highest mcd I would recomend for a tank would be 6000mcd but I think the 4000mcd LEDs look more natural. 10000mcd would be much to bright IMO. flame you got PM.
#ed_op#DIV#ed_cl#Ok. so how many do you think i should need on my 20?#ed_op#/DIV#ed_cl#

About what I was thinking too... thanks. Maybe I'll save the 10Kmcd for a blindingly cool flashlight or something
BR... 4 would probably be perfect, the shallow depth will lightly result in rather bright blue spots on your substrate. If so you can scuff the lens of the LED with sandpaper to help it difuse the lighting a bit more, the lens is just a soft plastic, solid right to the cathode/anode (the metal things inside) so you can go a bit radical of you want.

If you want or need to scuff them a bit 120 grit or so should be fine, whatever you have laying around will work just fine. But try them first and see if you need to... the other option would be to increase the resistance a bit to lower the output of the LED's.Originally Posted by Beginner Reefer
