I had two 20k's (and one 10K) and I just switched them all to phoenix 14k's and I love them. the water seems to shimmer now and it's so much brighter! I haven't had them long enough to notice a growth rate change but my corals grew pretty slowly with the 20k's. I'd say do the 14K's. With the phoenix 14k's I still get alot of blue color but it is bright enough that I don't feel like pulling out the flashlight to get a good look at a coral.

I agree with Brian, the 14k's have a crisper look than the 20's. I think you get too much blue with the 20k's
I had 10k, and when it was time to replace the bulbs I really thought about getting 20k. After seeing 14k and 20k in side-by-side coral tanks at the LFS, I went with 14k and LOVE the look! HTH!![]()
I'm also in the middle of a build/set-up. Since my tank is not established, and I will be growing the rock, frags, etc from scratch, does anybody have any suggestions as to which lighting grows tanks the best in its infancy stage? I have 2 10k right now which I was planning to use along with the standard tube. My tank is 120gal 30x30x30 if that matters.
Thanks,
