    Default ASM G4 feed pump/s

hey guys.....need a good feed pump for my ASM G4 (it has a Sedra9000 for recirculation).....

I was thinking of running a pair of MaxiJet1200s (~300gph) as feed pumps (I already have one).....or would there be a better sized pump?

Also, would it hurt to let these feed pumps also pull air? as I see it, more air = more foam = better skimming

There's a line that you can cross where too much air in a skimmer is a bad thing because it will mess with the efficiency of it. I'm not an expert on skimmers though, so I'm not the best to answer. You want a decent balance of flow into the skimmer and air into the skimmer. Are two 1200's 300GPH or 600GPH? I think 300GPH sounds about right, but part of me says that seems a little high. I have a G3 but it's not recirculating. I have an OceanRunner 2700 in the garage that I"m not using and I've been toying with the idea of using that as a recirc pump with a couple strategic uniseals.

You want a pump that will do 1.5 1.75 times your total volume. So if your tank is 100 gallons total with sump, then you want to feed in 150 gph to 175 gph. Don't feed in air because it will have a negitive impact on your skimmer. Hope that helps you some.
Of all the things I have lost, I miss my mind the most.

You could also try to do a feed from the tank. Tee off your overflow so that it goes to the sump and the skimmer. The skimmer outlet can then be returned to the sump. Place a gate valve or ball valve before the skimmer so you can play with it do get the results you need.
