    How much bigger is the 29g compared to the 14g? Guy at a local pet store said like 2 inches.

    Maybe he meant 2" all the way around? Looks like it's 5" both directions so that would be 2.5" all the way around.

    Yep, & if you can afford the 29G, I say go for it. You have A LOT more room to work with for 'scaping.
