I just bought a skimmer for 10 dollars. I don't know what kind it is. I don't even know if it would be good for my 55gal tank. I want to put it into a sump. It didn't come with a pump. I know it is 13" tall and a darker smokey color. It is broken. Please look at the pics and tell me if I can fix it. THANKS!
Wish I could help answer your questions... but I have never seen a skimmer like it. Is there any writing on it at all? If so please post it as it may be useful information.
It shouldn't be too hard to find a replacement pump... you just need something that pushes 2000 L/hr (aka 530 gallons/hour) and possibly a few PVC parts to get the pump outlet and skimmer intake to matchup. It looks like it should work in a sump. I have no idea how well it will work since the air intake is after the pump outlet.
Looks like the broken part shouldnt effect performance in sump at all. I agree with tom- find a pump a bit over 500 GPH, with an output that matches the tube it connects to, and give it a try.
