    Default Easiest water change ever!!

I just did the easiest water change ever on my 125. I did a 30% change. I didn't lift a bucket, lol. I used a python to empty the water down to the basement sump. (gravity fed) I then used a mag 9.5 to pump the new water from the basement back into the tank thru the python tubing. Took about 35 mins. for the whole water change. The hardest part was stretching the tubing to fit over the output of the mag 9.5. Guess I'll do allot more water changes now that I don't have to haul buckets to the sink then up from the basement.

Dugh, now why didn't I do this from the beginning? Because I didn't have a python, lol. I strongly suggest everyone get one, if you don't already have one. It is so worth the $45.00 for the 100 ft one. (I cheated, I got it free from my mother in law. I gave her my old 55 gal. so she was happy to give me the python that she never used.)

Now i can enjoy the rest of my day off doing NOTHING!!! Yeah!!!!

Pythons are great!! I have used them for years. Make things so easy.

Here is an easy DIY tip..... especially if you dont have a gravty fed system.
The pythons end is usually connected to the sink and the suction is created by the water flow of your faucet. Lucky for us....the EXACT same unit is used in a $5.00 waterbed fill kit sold at walmart. All you have to do then is get yourself a hose from the garden department. And there you have it. A Python for usually 1/2 the cost. I also have a medium gravel vaccum style syphon that presses right into the hose end.
I can post pics if anyone is confused.
    Have a Great Day

Can you please post a picture? I'd look up Python on a search engine... but a little worried of what I might find...

Before you start to think I'm being naughty... let me clarify. As much as I try to like snakes, they're just not my favorite animal. Sorry, reptoreef!

Not a search I'd want to type in from a work machine....

But do a search on F&S's website and you find what you are looking for.. something like this towards the bottom they list all the accessories and stuff to go with it.

I like GT's idea of the waterbed filler and drainer deal, we should still have a few of those hanging around, if no they can be found for cheap. Anything has to be better than hauling 5gal buckets up and down from the basement. Wish I'd thought of that when filling the 180..... took me days to fill, and my right arm is now 1" longer than the left one.

No offense... We still adore you... even if you can't handle a little snake.
There's nowhere else I'ld rather be... unless, of course, you're buying

Dave darling.... when you come home from work, I'll show you the type of siphon that would certainly work for our tank when we need to do water changes if you want to go that route. I guess I thought you had some fetish for taking it out of the tank the hard way, but since all my corals are in there now you have to be careful!!!!! lol I love you honey..... heheheh.... kiss, kiss!!

Hmmm.... how to reply.... I'd still like to see a Python photo if possible. What is L&R?

Just for the record, I can handle a little snake. Like a nice little corn snake. As long as it doesn't look sneaky. We used to have bull snakes back home. I guess they eat rattlesnakes (??). We have rattlers and timber rattlers back home. I like almost all animals... why did I ever admit to snake fear? Okay, I may as well admit to Clown Fear, too. A clown is Waaay more scary to me than a snake.

    :-)
