    Default Euro Reef RS Skimmers

Has anyone tried the new RS series? It seams like a good price for Euro Reef skimmers, but they must be of some less quality. Maybe more in line with ASM or Octopus skimmers?

I won't be of much help to ya on your question since I'm fairly new to the hobby. But, I'll say that you've come to the right place! So.....

But isn't it true that the "quality" is not in the design but the material strength etc. used? I guess what I'm getting at is if you have an ES.. it is just as efficient, but may not handle being beaten around...

I have had both types of skimmers the ER (CS series) and ASM. Both are great skimmers. Unless you plan on using it for place kicking practice a skimmer will not "fall apart" the ASM are easier to clean because they come apart in section unlike the ER. ER does use a higher grade of acrylic for manufacturing but the performance is the same. ER has made some progress with a different pump that they used to use that ASM is still using. ER is using Eheim for the recirculation pumps on the RC series now. IMO it is what you want (are you the designer jeans type). The ER RS is being made like the ASM with the interlocking pieces. So it depends on how much you are willing to spend.
