I just found out I don't have enough lighting over one of my refugiums! What is everyone using? I'd like to buy something at Home Depot or Lowe's. Any suggestions?

Try one of those outdoor 150 watt halogens... The heat will be the biggest issue, IMO.
There's nowhere else I'ld rather be... unless, of course, you're buying![]()
I use a small power compact fixture I bought off ebay for around $20. It uses 2 13 watt bulbs which are about $4 to replace. The bulbs are easy to find at most hardware store. The fixture is 12"L x 4"W x3"H. Works good for me and the macro seems to like it too.
I use a pc flood light made by Lighting of America. It consumes 65w and the output is equal to 500w incandescent. The model # is 9266.Also i've seen people grow lps under these lights.

Right now we are using 2 of the LOA 19w/75w PC floodlights at 2900K and the macros are loving it! 1 runs 24x7 the other with the daylights. These are available at HD (look for the PAR38 on package... I posted a picture of it and the SKU# on here somewhere, the 5100K bulbs can be special ordered in by HD, both for around $10 each. But I think the chaeto is really enjoying the 2900K, though I want to give the 5100K ones a shot one of these days.

It's a 6500k
6500k??? For real??? If that's true, I think I would consider trying them for an sps tank with act supplimentation... aren't the iwasakis also 6500k, but MUCH more $$$$$$$$$$$???

I use the Lights of America flood from HD too. Uses like 65W but has the output of 500W or something. My fuge goes CRAZY with that lighting. I'm forever pruning the macro.
The only problem that I found, is that with such INTENSE and warm lighting, you need to keep up your flow or you'll get cyano and other problems. I know, in a sump or fuge, who cares, that's where you want the nuisance alga. But, I added a small PH into my fuge and NOW it is clean and functional.

The 'sakis are rated at 6500K, the littrature I found suggest a bit higher (around 7600K), they only ran me $60 a pop (plus $25ish for each ballast) but I'm going to have look into these for the fuge, I was just in HD yesterday, always wander through the lighting isles but nothing like this jumped out at me... think it's time for a little research and maybe a return trip![]()

I found that the LOM lights we are using are rarely on the shelf in the lighting section. They tend to be continuously "on sale" and are most often found in the isle in a boxlike display or on endcaps. At least that's the deal back here in MA. Also, rumor has it that while they had introduced the light and sold them for like 18 bucks or something, they've since gone up in price. Look for model 9265.
