I'm following you on this one Rick. I too am going with An HOB over flow, with a 12g sump. I'm ticked off at myself because I found some really nice ones on line but I'll be damned if I can find em now

If the tank is not drilled the u-tube siphons water out of the internal box into the external box.
does the siphon start when water enters the chanber and goes into the tube..
Rick
No you have to start the siphon by sucking the air out of the u-tube with an airline.
ok will let you know how it turns out.. thank again for your help
Rick
rick one way to get the air out of the U tube is to insert an air line up the tank side of it drop it in and make sure you have water in both sides of the over flow or it will loose siphon then suck the air out of the tube
some hob over flows have an air port at the top of the u tube so you can stick an air line from that to a power head to suck the air out of it
I have been reefing from 08-2007 till 5-2011
