    Is this a new skimmer? how long has this skimmer been running?

    nah ive had the skimmer about a year now. The only thing i really add to the tank is fuel.

    put a little block of wood or something under the part where it hangs on so it actually bumps the skimmer up about an inch higher (the entire skimmer) and that should slow it down.

    also, have you switched foods you have been feeding your fish?

    i tried some lower quality brand that i have been using previously and my skimmer went nuts. after 2 days i realized it was the new food.
