Lighting aclimation

I used to have 260 pc lighting over my 55 now i have 2 250 15 k metal halids how should i acclimate them i heard that you can leave the lights on for an hour a day then after each day add an hour. Would that be sufficient?

One method of acclimating the tank to such a drastic change in light is by using layers of window screen and light diffuser panel aka "egg crate". Cut the egg crate to same size as the tank, basically making a lid for the tank. Then cut three layers of common fiberglass window screen to the same size. Install the lights in the normal position. Place the egg-crate on the top of the tank and then the three layers of screen. Run the lights as you intend to do so long term. Remove the first layer of screen after one full week and one layer every week after that. This method allow the tank and corals to build up a tolerance to the new light. Shorting the light cycle will still expose corals to to strong of light, burning them. This method works. Patience is important in this hobby.
