    Default Low PH

My PH is dropping like a rock for some reason. My kh (alk) is good. How can I raise my PH without raising the alk in the tank? I seem to remember having this problem once before. It's been awhile and I don't remember how I fixed it. I tried to use the search feature for low PH or raising PH but the "PH" doesn't match the 3 letter minimum for the search feature

Was it baked baking soda? Pickeling Lime? Geesh I hate it when the brain will not work!

    Thank you.

Baked Baking Soda will increase pH as well as increase buffering ability (dKH), pickling lime will raise the pH and increase the Ca content.

It can be a bit of a balancing act to find the right dosage, I found a combination of baking soda (baked and straight from the box) after a while and was able to manipulate the pH and Ca content at will.

Did you by any chance start using Phosban media or any other GFO products like Rowaphos?

These can drop your alkalinity if not added slowly.

Why does that occur? also if it is just pH and not alk would the GFO cause that also? I'm experiencing the same thing and thinking of doing a kalk drip or reactor, I just havn't seen anything on a kalk reactor.

Time to test for Magnesium, you want to shoot for 1300ppm, low Mg is known to cause trouble keeping Alk/Cal concentrations at the right levels.

Do you have a calcium reactor?

Dosing Kalk is a good idea but I would fix whatever is dropping your pH first.
