    Default Lumatek ballast

I can;t say how good this ballast is, I was doing some lighting comparison using several different 250 ballasts, this one fires the bulbs 7 different brands the smoothest and gave the best lighting. I plan on doing so par readings if a certain someone lets me borrow a meter.

Mike thanks for suggesting this ballast. It gave a crisper look than the icecap have you noticed that?

I might have to try a lumatek with my next tank, I had a power horse and really liked it.
Does water always taste like salt and poo????

I've been using the lumatek ballast on my frag tank for a while now. I did some research on it and they claim to slightly overdrive the bulb much like a magnetic HQI ballast. This replaced an icecap 250w ballast and you can definitely see the difference. I run phoenix bulbs and the icecap ran it very blue and somewhat dim. The lumatek runs a crisp white/blue just like my display (bluewave HQI ballasts). Would be interesting to see if it does, in fact, overdrive the bulb?

I am getting roughly 20% more output form my 400 on radiums than with a standard ballast.
