I had a double version given to me by a friend. I ran it for a week and threw it in the drive way. Those and the Red Sea Prizm skimmers are a waste of good plastic!!
For about $30 more I bought an ASM MiniG and that thing rocks!!!! Its a mini foam cannon!

For them to do anything you have to remove the pump and put in a MaxiJet 1200. Premium Aquatics used to sell a replacement venturi kit for the mod for like $8. I put in a Maxi 900 that I had laying around and it was a big improvement.

Mine works great now. I had emailed the company complaining that it was weak and loud. They emailed me back and wanted to know what stock pump I had. I guess they have 2 and depending who you got your skimmer from you get a crappy one. . . or a good one. Mine was the Rio one. . . crap (F&S). They sent me an Accela, which is like a maxi jet I guess and NOW it works great. I have to empty my cup every 3rd day or it comes out the top of the holes. It stinks and is dark and gross, like gag me stinks. I vodka dose so I needed to make sure my skimmer was really skimming to do that but seems to keep my tank pretty clean.

I think if they want to sell them as a quality skimmer, they need to sell them ONLY w/ a maxi jet pump. You shouldn't have to go modifying a brand new skimmer you know . . . Or make them a bit cheaper and let you buy your own pump. They are good size and shape don't make a ton of micro bubbles but I'd be ashamed to sell my skimmer (if I owned CPR that is) with such a sucky pump like those little rios. . . just sayin. . .

Yep.... glad you all found the sercet to sucess with this skimmer... it's the pump! :-)

You can say the same about the remora. The Mag 5 makes a huge difference!
