I'm running 4x24 t5ho on my 26g bowfront. I'm wondering if this may be to much light for this size of a tank. This is just 1 reason I'm thinking that I can not get rid of my diatom issues?

better RO/DI or change your fish food to a better quality brand. i have 4x 24w on my 29g so thats only 3g more than you and my lights are perfect. also they could be just from your tank being so young stilll. takes about 3-4 months to get the bacteria mature enough to handle the bioload
I have no access to better RO/DI water. I'm using the Aquarium Pharmaceuticals Tap unit. It's a one membrane filter which I now believe to be DI only. At one time I thought it was RO. It contains carbon on the bottom and what almost looks like Chemipure in the middle. Top and bottom have thick pads. The water flows first through the carbon, through the resin and then out. Is this RO or DI?

I think thats just filtration of some sort not RO or DI
It takes a long long time to build a coral reef. Step by step the reefs survive on partnerships. And the most important partners are you and I.
it is a di resin unit, although very small. it will exhaust quickly because of its size and no ro unit before it.
Jay is right that it will exhaust quickly. An RO/DI is a better investment longterm. Your tank is fairly new isn't it?

Its not to much light, you are just in the last stage of cycling the new tank. This happens a lot when tanks are cycled under minimum lighting. Then you give it full light and it starts over, but this is normal with new tanks. I even git it when I let the bulbs go full term then change them all. I like to change 2 at a time.
Just hang in their it is hard but you are getting so close.
If it does become an option this would work for your size. Aquarium Water | Reverse Osmosis | RODI Water | ReefKeeper Water | Mighty Mite 50GPD with DI Added
I really like that one-it would last me forever-5g weekly wc is all I'm doing for now.
