    Default protein skimmer problem

I have a turboflotor multi 1000 protein skimmer which until recently was working fairly well. Now when I plug it in the pump (oceanrunner 2500) seems to be "burping" but not putting out the pressure to fill the chamber with bubbles. I have tried cleaning the pump, and taking it apart. All parts seem to be in good shape but when I put it back together it doesn't seem to work. The skimmer itself has some slime in it which I can't get a brush to. Any thoughts. Thanks in advance.

do u have an air line connected to an air valve? sometimes they will get salt in there and then the air cannot get past. I have had the same problem, while the skimmer is running blow pretty hard into the air tubing that runs down to the skimmers pump, ur skimmer should almost empty itself out and then give it a sec and see if the foaming starts. hope thats the problem, it happens with mine all the time.

good point, I did check to make sure that no salt had built up in the air line. This does happen to mine too.

don't laugh but have you disconnected the pump from the skimmer and set it in hot water while plugged in and gave it a good smack?

also check inside where the impeller is to see if the housing is grooved. the pump may be bad or the impeller shaft needs replacing due to damaged teeth etc.

just trying to help because without me having a hands on perspective there is'nt much else but to guess the problem
