Think I could merely use some LED grow lights and go that route? If it is meant to grow plants, I can't see why it wouldn't grow coral.

The second patent number doesn't seem to be correct (doesn't come up in a USPTO search), but AI is the only company that I am aware of that has a license from Orbitech.

While both are photosynthetic, the requirements are different. Corals prefer light that is heavy in blue light. Plants need light that is heavier in red, especially in the vegitative stages. Also, I haven't seen a grow light that was worth a damn, and certainly not worth the cost.
