    Default skimmer needed,suggestions?

My 40 breeder will be here next week and i'm starting to get equiptment together for it.I'm gonna put my old 30 underneath and use it for a sump so i'm guessing i should have close to 55 gallons system water. The tank is gonna be BB with minimal LR and SPS only.So what kind of skimmer would you buy?I'm trying not to spend more than $250 so keep that in mind.

IMO, MR-1 from My Reef Creations.

It's a little more than $250 but a great skimmer and will fit nicely in a 30gal. sump. $295 - $330 plus shipping depending on what pump you use.

Not wanting to hijack the thread but has anyone got any opinions on the 'TurboFloaters', read some decent reviews, seemed to be in the same price range. I'll take hands on opinions over a 'review' any day, seems people feel obliged to give higher marks if it was given to them to write an article.

Havn't heard anything on those Dakar,I really like the MR1 that ereefic posted but it needs a real large pump and might just be overkill for my lil 40.I think its rated for a 120.

A local reefer I see regularly uses a turbo floater on his 125 with 55 gl sump... looks good to me. IMO, you're a DIYer so do a DIY project... I built mine for around 50 for the skimmer body and 40 for the pump(similar build as euroreef w/750 gph venturi pump and a duel lime wood air injection, too boot) No probsw, here.

Yeah it's almost time to get things back in order so I can find my workbench again, I saw it down in the basement a while ago, but it's buried, got a new design in mind and a Mag9.5 collecting dust. Might need a couple more MJ's too...
