... generally, you'll get what you pay for.
There's nowhere else I'ld rather be... unless, of course, you're buying![]()

I'm wanting to get an Aqua C Remora... they've gotten good reviews online, and I've had a number of people recommend them to me. The good news is - only $160 or so! There is an online store that sells them for $159, and since the company's office/warehouse is in my town, I can pick up my order from them directly and not pay any shipping!(now I just have to wait two or three more weeks for the extra cash, lol!)
The AuquC is a far better choice than either the Jebo or SeaClowns, they cost about the same but the others in comparaison are quite poor.
Every electronic device is manufactured with smoke stored deep inside... only a true genius can find a way to set it free.
#ed_op#DIV#ed_cl#my remora works great. the overflow box is kind of a rip though.cant keep it in the right spot and puts tons of bubbles in the tank. pretty loud also.#ed_op#/DIV#ed_cl#
#ed_op#DIV#ed_cl##ed_op#/DIV#ed_cl##ed_op#DIV#ed_cl#I haven't come across these remarks before... are you saying the overflow is loud or the skimmer itself? The only negative comment I've heard so far was that the intake can clog with debris, but it comes with a cleaning brush. I liked it mostly for the ease of use... kind of like plug and play... without the tinkering or modifications that other skimmersoften require.#ed_op#/DIV#ed_cl##ed_op#DIV#ed_cl##ed_op#/DIV#ed_cl##ed_op#DIV#ed_cl#I am interested in ANY comments, positive or negative, regarding all skimmer brands/models(as I'm suremost newbies are) before purchase.#ed_op#/DIV#ed_cl#Originally Posted by greenman
yea man, the overflow box has two screws that tighten against the pump. i have a 55 gallon and lose alot of water due to evaporation. if the skimmer box is too deep, the gunk on top just moves around and back out.if you get it too low it runs dry. so im constantly adjusting this thing, but thats me. im anal.
the skimmer itself is loud but im not sure if it is a problem with mine or not. the out flow of the jet is just off the water inside the skimmer and thats where the noise comes from. the sound of water being sprayed into the skimmer. i thought that it was just mine that was defective and that the jet should be touching the water but then its not set up for a venturi pump so i dont think it would be as effective causing bubbles.
maybe someone that has one of these could answer my question and give you another opinion.
does the jet touch the water inside of your skimmer? anybody?
I have read that Deltecs HOB skimmers are awesome. People have said (and that is just their opinion) that Deltec has the best HOB skimmer. I am sure it is quite a good skimmer, considering the price... (about 400-500 for HOB). But like repto said, you get what you pay for. (Also, the deltec HOB is pretty much plug and play without having to set any adjustments as far as depth, heigth, etc etc)
I plan on going with an aquac EV 120-180 personally, but thats just my personal preference.
Failure is for those who accept it.
