    Default Thinking about this skimmer-

I need a better skimmer than the one I have (red sea berlin), unfortunatly I dont have any spare cash at the moment. Right now, I am stashing all my extra for a new tank and new lights.

Will be a temporary skimmer till my new tank and lights get paid for. Then a real skimmer will be in order, taking the place of a red sea berlin (older model) in sump skimmer.

Would like to hear everyones thoughts.

I was told by the guy (some one I know and trust) getting rid of it that it pulled some nasty stuff out of his tank.

Let me know what you guys think.

I have seen some pvc home made skimmers like that work very well even outpreform some of the major commercial skimmers

main thing is look at the dims to make sure it will be big enough for your tank

I have not had great luck with odyssea pumps, I would change that pump out with a better quality pump.

Honestly I don't understand what makes a good skimmer and what doesn't? They are all just acrylic with a cup and a pump?
Why do some totally rock and some just flat suck?

Thx for all the replies so far.

    Mike-

He wants a few pounds of live rock (which I am going to have a huge overabundance of soon) and a frag of red monti cap and a digi frag.

As for lights, I am looking at a 4 bulb t5ho w/ individual reflectors. Specifically the nova slr set up.
