    Question Vortech pumps

    So..

All I hear from people who own these things is how great they are and now Im seriously considering getting one, I've been looking at classifieds of course, and Im seeing a lot of people with "new wet side" or "rebuilt dry side" etc etc.

My question is this. If these pumps are so great, why does everyone have to constantly replace or rebuild parts of them?? Why am I constantly seeing them with replaced / new parts if they are so good?

Is this like an expensive Italian sports car? It's just so awesome when it's not in the shop (too bad its there a lot)?

    That's a fair analogy.

I think the newer versions have improved. They had some growing pains I think and might have received some off-spec components. However, they are pretty good at replacing the defective parts.

I haven't had any issues with my MP-10 which is of new construction. Had several issues with the previous MP-20.

I had some problems with both of my MP40s. They replaced the parts and they have been rock solid ever since. The big plus is the flow. Nothing else on the market is close.

ive been wanting to get an mp10 for my 29g for some time but just cant get around to spend that much money on it. if someone had one and wanted to trade for something i had them i would consider it but still $220 for a pump when i can pay $25 for a k1 or k2 just doesnt seem like a good investment for me.

I have a 40,20 and a 10. I've replaced the 40 wet side twice but to quickly receive a warranty replacement from VT great customer service. Other than that not a single issue. The flow is like Andy says unmatched by any. Plus the fact that there is no ugly cords hanging in the tank, are adjustable, and when clean you can't see them on my back wall. It's black and they blend right in. Almost forgot the battery backup, which has saved me more than once. I feel that it is a hard bullet to bite, but once you do you'll never be happier.!
