At first I thought it was cool. Now I'm not so sure why? Because it has 6 arms.
And what is this white string stuff? It pulls off real easy, but just grows back and only on this little piece of LR.
There is nothing like being a REEFER!

looks like a mini brittle star. If it is there is nothing to worry about.
+1 brittle star = fine
The white stuff is likely a sponge.
first pic is mini brittle star very good detritus eater harmless to most everything else
second pic looks like you have sponge but hard to say due to blurry image
I have been reefing from 08-2007 till 5-2011
reef tanks are like wifes you have to give them some attention every now and then
I am clueless as to the white stringy stuff.....
tube worms? tiny feather dusters? my tank is over run with tiny brittles
Not tube worms nor fd's. If it wasn't on the little rock with my wee bitty birds nest I'd let it grow just to see what it does. I think it may be plant related as it grows back within a couple of weeks after removal. No spreading yet pray pray pray...I'll try an get a closer shot of it. Maybe somebody knows. Hey! I'll ask Mikey-he knows everything. LMAO.

Is it possible the second pic is more mini brittles? They like to get themselves into rock, and wave their arms into the water colomn to collect food. A possibility perhaps?
You know the saying, where there is 1 there is 100's! True saying too, regarding mini brittles most of the time!
