Hi. This was sold to me today as a branching acropora ? Looking at photos on google it seems a bit to bushy shaped for it to be branching. Can anyone give me the name for this guy & any tips & tricks to keep happy & colourful !! Thanks
Just make sure it has strong lighting and medium to strong flow. Keep your phosphate and nitrate levels near zero and your calcium and alk levels stable all the time...acros love consistency.Keep an eye on it and if something's wrong it well show you signs that it's not happy. Good luck, that's a beautiful acro! !

What sort of signs will it show if its not happy ? I run 8 x 80w T5, is that ok ? My nitrates and phos are always near 0 so that should be fine. Cal 450 alk 9.6 fairly consistant but dont have auto doser so up and down a little.
That lighting should be just fine. The type of bulbs you use could make a difference though. I always use ATI bulbs and get great growth and coloration from my acros. Your Cal and alk levels look good but keep an eye on your alk. If your gonna keep it at 9.6 you don't have a lot of wiggle room in case theres a spike or accidental over dose. The tips of acros will do what they call "burn"if the alk gets to high. Every acro is different but I've seen them do it when the alk starts getting above 10. I run mine at 8.9 and Cal at 420 and it stays there by means of my Ca reactor. If the acro isn't showing burnt tips or any tissue recession than it should be fine just test your water frequently and dose accordingly so there isn't any big fluctuations.
