    Default favia bleaching a little...

Well, after 8 months of coral bliss, I have a little concern starting. I have a red favia brain that has bleached in 2 spots. The bleach areas involved 2 polyps a piece, and have gone white completely. I think this may be do to a temp raise as the weather out here in So Cal has gotten rather warm. Water climbed as high as 82, but I have it hanging @ 80 for now. What do you guys think, and what do you suggest ? everything else looks pretty good in the tank.

dont think it was temp related. most reefs of the world are warmer than your tank was. although it could be from a SUDDEN temp increase. my tank stays between 80 and 81 degrees. 81 with the lights on of course. im sure some one more qualified with the favia family will chime in soon though, so dont worry much about my post until someone with more favia knowledge jumps in.

I thank bobby is right my tank runs from 80 to 83 always has with no problems. But a sodden increase of 5 degrees or more may cause a problem

I no I'm going to get to 83 at times during the summer so i set my heater to keep the tank at 80 at all times
I HAVE A PROBLEM' I'M ADDICTED TO MICROMUSSA

What temp had you been maintaing your reef at prior to the 82degree increase?
How long have you had the coral? What lights are over your tank?Where is the coral at in the tank?
In the meantime, place it in lower lighting with mod flow.I would feed it at night a much as possible too.
