Default *~Angel's Quiet Captivating Lagoon~* :seahorse:

Well, I'm finally getting around to getting all the pictures of my Hippocampus Reidi Seahorses in their Lagoon. They have been in my care for 6 months now. They are known to be one of the hardest Seahorses to keep in captivity! So far so good! I haven't updated my pictures in so long. I do have some old ones in my gallery also, but I haven't looked at them in while, so even I'll have to peek at them for changes that have occured since they were taken. Enjoy the photos! ...Angel :seahorse: :angel1:

The bright sunflower type are fake flowers. They are in the tank to encourage the seahorses to show their colors. As you can tell, those are their favorites. Very often, seahorse owners use soft fake plants for their seahorses to hitch on. The brighter the colors the better, and staying in their color change range is the best. My little stinkers like to show their colors in the night, and every once in awhile they will show them beautifully for me! Mine show mostly yellow & silver. Awesome little fish aren't they? They flirt with me, at least it seems that way to me. My ponies love to hitch on my pinkie to show their trust. I want to add a few more flowers in for them, but they have to be just the right kind to please me too. I found those fake coral pieces on the tank's wall by accident in Pet Smart. They had them thrown in a close out bin for .99 cents, blister packs still sealed but so dusty you couldn't see what was in there! I picked them up originally for my daughters little tank hehehe:p My Sun Coral is a favorite of theirs as well. It does great in a seahorse tank as the lighting is not near as bright as what all of us use for our reef tanks & coral to prevent sunburning the ponies. As long as I keep my live coral (like the zoanthids, the snake coral) up at the top of the tank, the lighting for it is adequate, and they grace the tank so beautifully. Angie aka: Sea Horse Whisperer was kind enough to share some of her live razor grass with me. The seahorses really love hitching to that as well. I swear, my face is always looking in there. They have some good caves, nooks and crannies to go to when they want their alone time, or for the best pod snicking around! I have a mirrored backing on my tank, so I can see what they are up to even when they think they are hiding. The mirrored backing is purchased in the auto dept, and people use it on their car windows to get that "can't see inside my car effect". I bet the makers of the product never dreamed that a reefer would find a better use for it! What's nice about it is the "peel & stick" feature. Well, I've answered more questions than you even wanted to know about. I get excited about my Seahorses. Thank you for your kind comments about the tank. I actually put the tank in for TOTM this month. Wish me luck!! Gosh, I talk to much! ....Angel :angel1:

LOL! Is the average word count per post feature lurking around here? I seem to remember your darling hubby posting yours and mine... I wonder - was he hinting at something?

    Your ponies are lovely, btw...
