there is no science to this a captive bred clown doesn't have the hosting gene if you will call it that...I had a clown for 6 monthes that didn't host with the anemone but he sure loved my xena and my toadstool...I once purchased a clown and its host anemone from the lfs but when i got them home it was another story the clown wanted nothing to do with the anemone..

Yesterday I came home from work & my clownfish disappeared. We looked all over the tank for it. Then I noticed a little maroon spot in the middle of the bubbletip anenome. Then he started to poke his head out. It took about 7 days. I think he was captive bred.
