I really appreciate all the information everyone is contributing. I did end up giving the Picasso clown to my LFS. There was no way the two were going to get along. The final straw was seeing the Picasso "marooned" in the corner at the very surface of the water and anytime he'd moved the maroon would charge up and grab him, dragging him around by the tail!
My maroon now has a RBTA that "he" is hosting in. He feeds the anemone and guards it from the other fish. He stopped building nests in the sand since I put the RBTA in the tank. I still for some reason think of the maroon as a male. He just still looks like a male (pointy instead of round) and he "displays". I don't disagree that he can become female, I just from some reason don't think it's happened yet. I could be totally wrong of course as I have no experience with clown fish. I have no plans to try and pair him at this time.
