Ok, I just noticed that my damsel fish seems like he has pigmentation on his body.
It's a domino fish and seems as healthy as its ever been. I just put a black background on the tank last night, so maybe the offset is making the fish stand out more?
He seems to be alright, even playing with the jet of the pump. He is swimming up to it and letting it push him all the way back again. It's kind of funny.
But all over his body, the black seems to be fading away very slightly. Very subtle baige marks. Could this be a problem?
probably not a problem, damsels tend to lighten or darken with the amount of light. did you notice this just after the lights came on, or were you looking when the lights were off? At night the white part of the fish will turn a darker color presumably so it can hide better at night.
I've seen the damsels change completely dark when spooked, but this seems different though. Hes not going to the cleaner shrimp as if he had someting on him, so I just wanted to make sure.
Well, it's been a few days and he still acts the same. Swims around, eats, pushes around the other fish. But he is losing more color. It's very weird! I just dont want the tank to become contaminated if he does have something.
Unless you are noticing that he is begimnning to look as if there are spots all over him, cloudy/bulging eyes, or skin beginning to look like a snake ready to shed or shedding, it's probably ok. Are you seeing this begin on any of the other fish?
There's nowhere else I'ld rather be... unless, of course, you're buying
