The first pair is alot smaller then the 2nd pair. The 2nd pair is a lot smaller then the Erectus that are going to my mom and my sister. Those were HUGE compared to these. I guess they were older. Good news is that all 4 of the new ones eat frozen and seem to be healthy. The smallest pair are a little on the thin side but that could be stress. I'm watching close. All 4 were a chocolate color, but now 1 is yellow (go figure) and 2 are black, and 1 is kinda a brown black with orange spines.

Has anyone had any problems with Draco Marine seahorses? I really wanted some from Seahorsesource, but Dan has been sold out of them for awhile now. I know we're not to mix seahorses from different breeders, so I will have to get my kuda ( in the future) from Dan. They are comparable in price and shipping. I have heard great things about Dan's Kuda and other seahorses in general, but I have not heard too much either way on Draco Marine seahorses.

Coloration doesn't "mean" anything, lol. It's just what the seahorse chooses to be. We can try to encourage different colors by providing specific colored hitches, but it doesn't always work. Mine seem to always turn yellow / orange or stay black. I don't care what color they are as long as they are healthy. I do like the yellows and oranges though. It adds a nice splash of color to the tank. Sometimes color can indicate illness or water quality issues. I've never depended on this since they can be 100% healthy and still be dark or light in color.

OK I just thought maby your statement was implying some sort of bad luck.
Glad the ponys are heathy and I would think that being young is a good thing since you know they have their whole life ahead of them.

I just did a search on the org for draco Marine. All good reviews so far. That's good to know. I'm off to pick up the new sump tank for the new 75g. I'm still waiting for the EPDM stripping to get here. Maybe the hardware store will have some. I want to ge the sump DONE!!!
