Is their a algae that will live and grow in the Refgium for tang food with out causing problems?
I can get some from the LFS but felt that growing it was afun ideal

I was giving a Small yellow tang by someone getting out i have not had one before all ways felt a 55 was to Small for one. the 75 with over 100 gallons of water will be up in a few months so that will help.

Jerry, we have a 29g planted tank dedicated to just that purpose... got a mixture of all sorts of macros in it that we feed the Tangs. It's plumbed into the sump as well as well as our other refuge.

Although the macros get a little thick at times so long as it is regularly pruned it has yet to cause any problems.

The feather calpura seems to be a favorite, it grows pretty rapidly.

My purple tang likes the flat blade and grape caelpra. You can also just use some Nori on a clip too. Nori is the sheets of seaweed they use for sushi. My grocery store has good size package for $4. The tang really likes it.
