Default Look who's in QT waiting for his Real home!

It's a good thing we have been researching tangs, that's for sure! We went to the LFS today to get fish food. Welllllll we came home with a Two Spot Bristletooth Tang, too! We have been looking for a voracious algae eater and we wanted a tang but not one that got huge. This lil baby will get to be a whopping 6" LOL

We are doing it right and quarantining him for 3 weeks but I had to post a picture of what he's gonna look like. Right now he's alone in the dark and I want to give him a few days before I scare him with a camera.

    Woohoo!!!!

I'll post some of the info I saved from my research:

Two Spot Bristletooth Tang: Ctenochaetus binotatus

    Maximum Size: 8 inches.
General Size Info: Sml. 1.5-2 inches, med 2-3 inches, lrg 4-5 inches
    Minimum Tank Size: 80 gallons.
Diet: The Ctenochaetus binotatus is a constantly grazing omnivore and the bulk of its diet consists of various algae. Offer sushi nori, spirulina, mysid shrimp, Ocean Nutrition Prime Reef and Formula two, and Spectrum foods.
    Reef Compatibility: Reef safe.
    Behavior: A semi aggressive species.
    Hardiness: A hardy species.
    Water Conditions: As always, ideal water conditions are a must: SG 1.020 to 1.025, Temp: 72-81F, 0 Ammonia/ 0 Nitrites, Nitrates > .20 PPM, pH 8.2- 8.5
    Range: Indo-West Pacific.
General Notes: An attractive fish, the Two Spot Bristletooth Tang is commonly available, and does well in small groups of 4 or more in larger aquaria.

The Two-spot Bristletooth is orange-brown with fine blue lines. It has blue eyes, blue spots on the head and thorax and a black spot at the rear base of the dorsal and anal fins.
This species has comb-like teeth with up to 42 teeth in the upper jaw and 45 teeth in the lower jaw (view teeth of C.striatus). It has a single caudal peduncle spine that can be retracted into a groove.

He's picking at the piece of LR i put into QT with him and yes, he's looking at the hair algea.......one can only hope, huh? :-)

Oh yeah, he was only $29 at the LFS he's about 4" and spunky!

He's eating like a horse! He's active and curious. I feel really guilty at condemning him to a 5 gallon tank for 3 weeks. This is the first fish we've quarantined but since tangs are ich prone we don't want to take any chances. LOL the dog goes in and watches him to keep him company.

AK, I know that guilty feeling! I kept my Tomini Bristletooth in QT for 5 weeks... it was SO hard!!! He looks similar to your tang, and I just love him!

I had a bunch of pics of him, but I must've downloaded them to the wrong file because I just can't seem to find them. Here is a generic pic of mine. Notice the similarities? Who couldn't love a fishie like that???
