Default I think something laid eggs in the pony tank!

While Dave and I were laying in bed watching TV, Dave noticed that something was releasing white stringy stuff. It's spring so I would assume something released some eggs. The ponies acted quite curious about it. They kept getting it all over them it seemed like purpose. I blow them off with the baster, and they'd find some more to spin all over themselves. Now I know this is not how ponies breed, so it couldn't be them...or could it? The only other things we have in the tank that might do that would be an interesting coral that we haven't been able to identify. I'll attach a picture of it and post it with this post. The other though was possibly the Mexican Turbo Snails. They are cleaning machines, but I wonder if that's how they lay eggs. So you can see, this one has me quite confused I wasn't able to get a picture of this. I stuck the baster in the tank and attempted to suck it up, but it just swirled around the baster with it's stringy goo. Anyone have any clues on this? I appreciate your suggestions. Thanks! ...Angel:angel1:

well the coral looks like somekind of branching or snake polyps. possibly zoa eating nudibranchs, but their eggs are usually attached to a zoa colony at the base. im gonna have to think about this one.

Do you have nassarius snails? Mine tend to leave a mucous trail on rock and glass. My ponies LOVE to twist up in it and "wear it" as decoration. They do the same with macro algae (to include hair algae )

DavidP nailed it on the "nassarius snails". That's exactly what the ponies do. They wind themselves up in it and look like little pigs! David, do you have nassarius snails in your tanks? They are such clods, they knock down everything, however; they do keep the tanks clean. Thanks for the ID on that stringy mess. I kinda figured they were the guilty party. I have 3 of them in the 45 gallon. To many ya think?
