My male sea horse is now a beautiful yellow!!!! My female is still dark, but has the most beautiful lavender spots all over her. I can't get the pics to show the lavender though. They still look white in the photos. Trust me, they are lavender. Looks like my lilac bush. I'm includeing a pic of the new Erectus tank. My daughter is 4ft 8 and it's taller than she is!!! Sea horsie heaven
We got more sea horses in at work. (No parasitic isopods this time) I'm NOT buying any though, lol. I'm done for awhile. One of the males is preggo. What should we do with the babies when they are born? They are Erectus. All I have on hand that may be small enough for them to eat is BBS. I have no idea when the little ones will be born so I don't know when to start hatching the bbs. I know I won't be able to just scoop them out and throw them away. I will have to try to save them......I'm not holding my breath though. Wait, stop, I'm not ready for babies.....I don't think the sea horse cares, lol. It's not MY sea horse thank goodness. Any suggestions? I better start reading all I can on raising them. Anyone local want to try raising them?
Most erectus fry will eat BBS right after birth. I would set up a 2 1/2 gallon tank, with a simple sponge filter, bare bottom and put the fry in there. Start hatching the BBS. Make two cultures, offset by a day or two. If you don't use them for the fry, you can always siphon and feed them to other fish in the store.
Remember, you can't "scoop" seahorse fry in a net. They have to stay submerged ALL OF THE TIME. use a specimen container to harvest them. Or better, use a length of hose and siphon them into another container.
Send me a PM with your email address..I have some fry raising notes that I put together.
