no signs of ICH, but he is staying in QT for at least another week. kick ich is a 13 day treatment, so i think that in 10 days he should be ich free and ready for the display, but if not he will stay in as long as it is needed.
what would you guys think about this ... when i ge thome from work today, i want to temp. acclimate the powder blue, fresh water dip him, and intro him to his new home. good idea or bad (please give reasons). i got the idea from looking at a thread about the pacific blue hippo tang. says it is best to temp acclimate then dip then intro.
if good how long do you think i should dip him for ??
RHAPALA, a freshwater dip is just that, if you dip a saltwater fish in freshwater it would kill off any parasites that are possibly left on the fish, but not harm the fish if done right.
Shad, he has only gone through about half of the ICH treatment (so he is not ALL THE WAY ready for the display). but after reading this post (below) and seeing the fish swimming in circles, and laps ... i think he is under a lot of unneccisary stress, being QTed in a 10gal. tank.
as quoted from andrewr ... "just a little caviat a lot of pros with hippo tangs will tell you to make sure that one is eating well at the store, when you bring him home, float him and then do a freshwater dip and put him right in b/c they are so fragile that quarantining them is harder on them than just putting them in. i think bob fenner and anthony calfo have said this on wwm but dont remember if thats where i read it."
